Online Education
“Online Education is a revolution. A revolution with a cause and consequences that benefit the world today. We discuss how online education has changed the face of what we once knew just as distance education.”
Online education has changed the face of education worldwide and introduced a whole new era of learning for traditional and non-traditional students. Online education, unlike formal education, offers a way to reach a wider audience, particularly non-traditional students. For others, it proposes a new pedagogical tool that has the potential to transform the learning process. And for others it is an inexpensive way of achieving a higher education degree.
Online Learning: Education system for the future
The use of online education has grown significantly in this day and age. In fact, with the expansion of the Internet, online education has experienced an upward trend.
The most important advantage of online learning for a student is that physical presence in a classroom is not required. Students who are not able to travel due to responsibilities such as job or living in a remote place can easily continue their education online.
Online education is also a great opportunity for the physically handicapped that can enroll in online courses without attending a physical campus.
Online education assists in increasing the learning experiences irrespective of age and prior learning. Besides, it is often more affordable when compared to the cost a student spends on traditional schooling, traveling, etc., to attend regular classes conventionally.
The Dynamics of an Online Classroom
Online study is self-paced study and students can concentrate on studies more effectively when compared to spending hours in a classroom. Online education is also a supplement to traditional or conventional education.
With dynamic online classrooms, students do not have to prepare notes, since the information taught to students will still be online.
Learn while you earn
It’s almost impractical to hold a full-time job as a student of a traditional campus education. However, it is not as difficult for online education students because of the flexibility of classes. This means that many online degree students are capable of getting jobs in their field of study prior to getting a degree. The additional experience puts them ahead of rational campus-educated students in the job market after graduation. In addition, many employers suggest tuition reimbursement programs to full-time employees who also attend college, saving more money on their tuition costs in the long run.
Attend school in your living room!
Students can "attend" a course at any time, from anywhere. Students from developing countries or remote areas who don’t have access to proper learning can easily acquire world-class education right in their own living room via the internet. Because there are no geographic barriers to online education, students can easily find a diversity of course material that may not be available to them where they actually live or work.
While "bricks and mortar" institutions remain the foundation for basic and higher education worldwide, online education has gained immense popularity among people from different walks of life across the world. There may be different reasons for this: accessibility, quality or flexibility in schedules, and many more. Some universities, such as AIU, even provide mobile-phone based learning through course pod casts etc.
