In the east of the state there is an Atlantic coastline, off which lie the Sea Islands, of which the largest are Tybee, Ossabaw, St Catherines, Sapelo, St Simons, Sea Island, Jekyll and Cumberland. The south of the state consists of flat, coastal plains with marshy areas along the coast, and the Okefenokee Swamp in the south-east.
