California is the most heavily populated state in the United States, and the third largest by area. It is located on the West Coast of the United States, next to the Pacific Ocean, and is bordered by Oregon to the north, Nevada to the east, Arizona to the southeast, and the Mexican state of Baja California to the south. Its four major cities are Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, and San Francisco. It is renowned for its diverse climate and geography, as well as its diverse population.
