The State of Arizona (nicknamed `The Grand Canyon State’) lies in the south-west of the USA and is bordered by Utah to the north, New Mexico to the east and California and Nevada to the west. In the south of Arizona, there is an international border with Mexico. The area now known as Arizona was inhabited by the Anasazi, Mogollan and Hohokam civilizations from around 300 BC to AD 1300. They were succeeded by the Pueblo peoples, with the Apache and Navaho tribes arriving in the 15th century. Arizona’s principal economic activities include manufacturing, construction, tourism, mining, agriculture and wholesale and retail trade.
