Part of Sharjah in the UAE, a federation of seven emirates united under the leadership of Abu Dhabi in 1971. Sharjah is headed by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi. All the emirates are headed by hereditary rulers who, together, form the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates. Although the president is formally elected by the Supreme Council every five years, the situation generally remains for life. It is accepted that the ruler of Abu Dhabi always the federation.
Sharjah is one of the emirates of United Arab Emirates (UAE). The emirate covers 2600 km ² (1,003 m² me) and has a population of over 800,000 (2008). The emirate of Sharjah in the city of Sharjah (UAE headquarters) and other small cities and enclaves of Kalba, Dibba Hisn and Al-Khor Fakkan. Historically, Sharjah was one of the richest cities in the region with a solution to the presence of more than 5000 years. In the 18th century, the clan Al Qasimi (Huwala tribe) was established in Sharjah, c. Sharjah 1727 declares its independence.
