The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a federation of seven emirates in the south of the Arabian Peninsula in Southwest Asia in the Persian Gulf, bordering Oman and Saudi Arabia. The UAE consists of seven states called emirates are Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al-Qaiwain, Ras al-Khaimah and Fujairah. The capital and second largest city in the United Arab Emirates is Abu Dhabi. It is also home to the center of the political, industrial and cultural activities.
Before 1971, the UAE were known as the Trucial States or Trucial Oman, in reference to a truce nineteenth century between Britain and several Arab Sheikhs. The name Pirate Coast was also used to refer to the region in the 18 emirates in the early 20th century. The political system of the United Arab Emirates, on the basis of the 1971 Constitution, comprises several closely related organs. The official religion is Islam and the official language is Arabic.
