Yasothon is one of the provinces of Thailand, established in the North-East of Thailand. Neighboring provinces are (from northern clockwise) Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket and Roi Et. The to the northern part of the province are flat lands with reduced high grounds, while the south part is the stream lowland of the stream Chi, with some ponds and swamps. The province of Yasothon was conceived in 1972 when it was divide off from the Ubon Ratchathani province. Rocket Festival is the most well renowned carnival of the province.

Yasothon, the province of Thailand is well renowned for the Rocket Festival, held yearly within May. Originally a fertility ritual it has become the foremost carnival of the year within the region. Every institute within Yasothon teaches its students to promenade "Peun Muang", a customary localized promenade so they can connect the parade at the annual rocket festival. Pornsuree Seesang already twenty and revising in Bangkok danced towards the melodies in the Rocket carnival as a progeny, she recalls the joy but furthermore the warmth as the young children will promenade for 4-5 hours within scourching sun.
