Surat Thani is the biggest of the south provinces of Thailand, onto the to the east seashore of the Gulf of Thailand. Surat Thani processes City of Good People, the name granted to the town by King Vajiravudh (Rama VI). The locality of Surat Thani was currently inhabited within prehistoric moments via Semang and Malayan tribes. Founded within the 3rd 100 years, until the 13th 100 years the Srivijaya kingdom overridden the Malay Peninsula and much of the isle of Java from there. The town Chaiya comprises some wrecks from Srivijaya moments, and was likely a local capital of the kingdom.
Surat Thani is one of the most very vintage provinces of Thailand. Some Thai historians even assertion that it was the capital of the kingdom itself for a number of moment, but this is usually disputed. Wiang Sa was another major town of that time. After the drop of the Srivijaya it was split up into the towns (Mueang) Chaiya, Thatong (now Kanchanadit) and Khirirat Nikhom. While Chaiya was administrated exactly from the capital, Thatong and Khirirat were dominated via the Nakhon Si Thammarat kingdom.
