Ranong is one of the southern provinces of Thailand and is situated in the Andaman Sea coast. Is the province with the least population. The Neighboring provinces of Ramong include Chumphon, Phang Nga and Surat Thani. To the west, it borders Kawthaung Province, Union of Myanmar. Ranong is famous for its heavy rainfall. More than 80% of the surface of the province is covered with dense forests. The province has 5 districts and thirty sub districts.

Ranong, the province of Thailand is located on the Isthmus of Kra, the narrow strip that connects mainland Thailand with the Malay Peninsula, on the west side of the mountains of Phuket the province has a long coastline of the Andaman Sea. The province is known for having the most rainfall of all Thailand, the rainy season which lasts about eight months. In 1955 the annual rainfall was 6699.5 mm, compared to around 1200 in central Thailand.
