Phetchabun is one of the northern provinces of Thailand. Phetchabun borders Loei, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, Lopburi, Nakhon Sawan, Phichit and Phitsanulok provinces. The terms that make up the name comes from Sanskrit: Vajra and Purna, which literally means perfect diamond. The first references in the city dating from the eleventh century, during the Khmer Empire. At the beginning of the century, this province of Lom Sak and were united in a single monthon (ancient territorial subdivision) to the administrative separation in 1915.
Phetchabun is the province of Thailand and is located in the wide and fertile valley of the Pa Sak River, flanked by the Phetchabun Mountains to the east and west. Originally the province was called "Phe-cha-buth" as "Phuenchapura", which means that the city of many cultures. The reason being given is that name because the province is very fertile and full of natural resources. Because of the fertility of the land, Phetchabun has always been productive in the agricultural area.
