Nakhon Ratchasima, often shortened to Khorat is the province of Thailand situated in the north-eastern region of the country. The Neighboring provinces of Nakhon Ratchasima include Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Buriram, Sa Kaeo, Prachinburi, Nakhon Nayok, Saraburi, Lopburi. The capital city of Nakhon Ratchasima is Nakhon Ratchasima which came into being in Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District, afterwards called as Korat or Khorat. In 1933 it was the stronghold of the royalist armies, premier the abortive try, renowned as Boworadej Revolt, rebelling against new popular government in Bangkok.
Nakhon Ratchasima province is established on the western end of the Khorat Plateau, divided from the Chao Phraya stream valley by the Phetchabun and Dong Phaya Yen hill ranges. Two nationwide reserves are in the province - the Khao Yai in the west and the Thab Lan in the south. Nakhon Ratchasima, or Khorat is a very big province on the north-eastern region of the province acts as an entrance to other provinces in the Northeast of the country. It is about 259 Km from capital city Bangkok and has an approximate area of 20494 square Km, making it the one of the greatest provinces in Thailand.
