Kanchanaburi is the largest of the central provinces of Thailand. The Neighboring provinces of Kanchanaburi incluce Nakhon Pathom, Tak, Uthai Thani Suphan Buri, and Ratchaburi. In the west part of the province it borders Kayin, Mon States and Tanintharyi which is a division of Myanmar. In the province in the central plain, Kanchanaburi is often visited by tourists and the reason of this attraction is its long history and ancient civilization, and the excellent location of the bridge across the river Khwae or Kwai.
The province of Kanchanaburi is located in the western part of Thailand, and is located 129 km from Bangkok and occupies a total area of approximately 19,483 km ² is the country's third largest province after the Nakhon Ratchasima and Chiang Mai. Topographically, it is covered with wood and evergreen forests. The district includes the source of the river valleys Kwae Kwae Yai and Noi ( "River Kwai"), which converge in the town of Kanchanaburi and form the Mae Klong River there.
