Chumphon is one of the southern provinces of Thailand, on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand. Neighboring provinces (from north clockwise) Prachuap Khiri Khan, Surat Thani and Ranong. From the west it also borders Myanmar. Chumphon is located on the Isthmus of KRA, narrow landbridge connecting the Malay Peninsula with the mainland of Thailand. In the West, in the hills of Phuket and its northern ridge to continue, the Tenasserim chain, while the east over the flat land on a coat in the Gulf of Thailand.
In Southern Chumphon was originally called the separate province of Lang Suan. It was included in Chumphon in 1932.
