Chaiyaphum is one of the north-eastern provinces of Thailand. Neighboring provinces (from north clockwise), Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Lopburi and Phetchabun. Chaiya word comes from the Sanskrit word meaning Jaya victory, and the word Phum Sanskrit Bhumi meaning earth or land. Hence the name of the province has the meaning of Land of Victory. In Malay / Indonesian word Jayabumi equivalence. Chaiyaphum has been naturally subdivided into two parts as Phetchabun mountain range cuts the region into two parts.
