Governorate of Musandam lies in extreme north of the Sultanate. It is separated from the rest of the Sultanate by a strip of land UAE. Its rough mountains rise to 1800 meters. Musandam governorate is distinguished by its strategic location, with a portion of it known as Ras Musandam - international water passage called the Strait of Hormuz. It should be noted that not all the Strait is good for navigation.
The Musandam (Persian: مسندم) is an enclave of the peninsula of Oman, separated from the rest of the country by the United Arab Emirates. Its location gives it a shared party with Iran, Oman, the strategic Strait. In northern Musandam, around Kumzar, language Kumzari, this is one of south-western Iran languages and a sub-branch of Persia. Musandam Peninsula has an area of 1800 square kilometers and a population of 28,727 people.
