Hawkes Bay (Māori: Heretaunga) is one of the regions of New Zealand. Hawkes Bay is recognized on the world stage for his award-winning wines. The Regional Council meets in the two cities Napier and Hastings. The region is located on the east coast of North Island. The region is the former name of what is now Hawke Bay, a large semi-circular bay, which stretches for 100 kilometers from northeast to southwest from Mahia Peninsula Cape kidnappers.
In the Hawkes Bay region includes the hilly coastal land around the northern and central Gulf, in the floodplains in the Wairoa River in the north, the wide fertile Heretaunga Plains around Hastings in the south, as well as the hilly interior stretching up to Kaweka and Ruahine ranges. The district boundaries differ from the former provincial boundaries Hawkes Bay, and some cities in the Manawatu-Wanganui region in the south-west, for example, Dannevirke and Woodville consider themselves part of Hawkes Bay.
