lle-et-Vilaine is a department of France, located in the region of Bretagne in the northwest of the country. Ille et Vilaine is a French department situated in the easternmost fraction of Brittany. The department is division of the ‘Gallo’ area, also called ‘Upper-Brittany’, Gallo also being the name of the local dialect. The residents of the department was 945,851 in 2006. Rennes is the region’s zone as well as the department’s ‘principal city’. The Ille-et-Vilaine is also summoned Ille-e-Vilenne or Ill-e-vilaenn in Gallo, the Breton call being Il-ha-Gwilen.
