Eure is a department in the north of France named after the Eure River. Eure was created in 1790 from part of the former province of Normandy.The territory of Eure is broken up by its rivers the lower Seine and its tributaries the Eure, Andelle, Epte, and Risle into wooded plateaux. Eure is an agriculturally affluent area; its chief products are wheat, flax, beetroot, and dairy products. Livestock and horses of pure Normandy stock are bred here. The major industry includes textiles and metallurgy. The governmental heart is Evreux.
