The Creuse department belongs - with Corrèze and Haute-Vienne - to the Limousin region. This area was formed following the Revolution of France similar to most French departments. It is named subsequent to the River of Creuse. Three other rivers pass through the area: River of Gartempe, River of Taurion and River of Petite-Creuse. The department is situated to the north west boundary of the Massif Central mounts range. The major possessions of this department are the rural life and natural landscapes. In reality, this fraction of France is well-known for being very green and calm. The numerous plateaus proffer outstanding views: the plateau de Millevaches and plateau de Gentioux as well as the monts de la Marche are a real heaven for nature lovers.
