Côte-d'Or is a department in the eastern part of France. Côte-d'Or is one of the unusual 83 departments formed during the Revolution of France. Côte-d’Or was previously a fraction of the province of Burgundy. The department is part of the current area of Bourgogne. It is bounded by the departments of Yonne, Nièvre, Saône-et-Loire, Jura, Aube, and Haute-Marne. This is among leading wine-producing area in France. It produces what are debatably the worlds finest, and absolutely most expensive Pinot noir and Chardonnay wines from some of the most rigoursly and painstakingly classified vineyards in the world.

Cote d’Or is located in the eastern part of France in the Burgundy region and its capital is the world renowned Dijon where the famous mustard is cultivated. From the northeast to the southwest, there is a chain of hills, Plateau de Langres that cut through the department dividing its area of 8,763 km². The climate exhibited by this area is temperate, with abundant rain on the west side of the central range creating a good environment in which to grow cereal grains and potatoes but the main attraction is its premier wine-growing region (located in the south of Dijon) which sustains the local economy.
