Corse-du-Sud is a French department. It is composed of the southern part of the desert island of Corsica. The department was created on September 15, 1975, when the Corse section was divided into Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud. The department is bounded on three sides by the Mediterranean Sea and at the north by the department of Haute-Corse. The entire island of Corsica is hilly with many beautiful beaches. The residents of Corsica are called Corsicans.
