Alberta is one of the ten provinces of Canada, part of the Prairie provinces and the western provinces. Alberta has one of the economies strong and influential in Canada. The province is a major producer of oil and natural gas. Ethnically and racially, the population of Alberta is predominantly Caucasian. Alberta produces about 70% of oil and natural gas in Canada. Many of these natural resources are exported to United States. Besides, agriculture, the industrial manufacturing, the finance and tourism are also of high importance to the economy of the province.
Alberta is among the Canada's Prairie Provinces. Alberta's capital city, Edmonton, is located approximately in the geographic centre of the province, with most of western Canada's oil refinery capacity located nearby, in proximity to most of Canada's largest oil fields. Alberta exhibits a dry continental climate with warm summers and cold winters. The district is open to cold arctic weather systems from the north, which often produce extremely cold conditions in winter. As the fronts among the air masses shift north and south across Alberta, temperature can change rapidly. Alberta's financial system is one of the strongest in Canada, sustained by the burgeoning petroleum industry and to a lesser extent, agriculture and technology.
