The Chicago School was established by the practice of psychologists are committed to provide professional training of high quality in psychology in a non-profit setting. Initial plans have been to school in 1977 and completed in January 1979 by the nonprofit organization Midwest Psychology Development Foundation. The Chicago School began its first classes in temporary quarters located at 30 West Chicago Avenue, before moving to the Fine Arts Building on Michigan Avenue in 1980. In 1986, after a long search, the Chicago School was moved next to its location, the historic district of Dearborn Station Chicago South Loop. In 2004, the school has found a new home at 325 N. Wells Center St. to accommodate the growth resulting from becoming a graduate school of psychology which has several programs focused on the business of psychology, clinical psychology, Forensic Psychology, Industrial and Organization Psychology Applied Behavior Analysis and School Counseling Psychology.
The Chicago School is accredited by the Higher Education Commission and is a member of the North Central Association. The Chicago School is also an active member of the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology, which recognized the school for his distinguished service and outstanding contributions to cultural diversity. Chicago campus doctoral program in clinical psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association.
